About Kidspace Childrens Museum [-]
An incredible seed bed of learning and discovery, the purpose of a children’s museum is to inspire children to learn and grow, equip parents and teachers, and to be a safe place where learners of all abilities can do so at their own pace and focus on topics of interest to them. This is often refered to as “Free Range Learning.” What makes us different from a school is our approach to informal education. We believe in giving our guests hands-on experiences that are relevant and inspiring. In Dr. Howard Gardner’s book, Intelligence Reframed: Multiple Intelligences for the 21st Century, he points out the value of children’s museums in helping a child discover their learning style. Kidspace provides a learning environment filled with the wonder and joy of the natural world. A definition from the Association of Children's Museums : A children's museum is a nonprofit institution that provides children with hands-on learning experiences and interactive activities, because children learn through exploration and play. The first children's museum, called the Brooklyn Children's Museum, was founded in the year 1899.
