About Daphnemuseumalabama [-]
The Old Methodist Church Museum of Daphne - Built in 1858 this church is the second oldest church building in Baldwin County. The design is Greek Revival with country adaptations: made from heart pine logs, original pews, random-width floorboards and a slave gallery. Before the Civil War, many slaves attended church with their masters, but were segregated to seating in a rear balcony. In the cemetery, grave markers date from 1847 and include two brothers killed in the last two weeks of the Civil War.

The Daphne Museum along with other Baldwin County Museum's participated in the 2013 Baldwin County Fair with an exhibit. The overall theme was Baldwin at War. The Daphne Museum decided to look at "war" from the perspective of famous poets who wrote about war. In our research we found a local person, Wallace Dee Walker who wrote, "Tramp, Tramp, Tramp" while in trench warfare in WWI. Click on the two files below to see the exhibit.
